Install Mozilla Thunderbird On Ubuntu 11.04 “Natty Narwhal”

Here is a guide that will show you how to install Mozilla Thunderbird. You can install Mozilla Thunderbird (version 3.1.10) from the Ubuntu Software Center or using a terminal command line.

To install Mozilla Thunderbird using the Ubuntu Software Center open it by clicking on the launcher in the launcher panel or press Alt+F2 and type: software-center.

Search for thunderbird and select the search result (Thunderbird Mail/News). To install extra add-ons click on the More info button and select the add-ons. To install Mozilla Thunderbird and the selected add-ons click on the Apply Changes or the Install button. If you don’t want to install the add-ons just click on the Install button and Mozilla Thunderbird will be installed. To start Mozilla Thunderbird press ALt+F2 and type: thunderbird

To install Mozilla Thunderbird using a terminal window. Press Alt+F2 and type: gnome-terminal and copy+paste the following line:

sudo apt-get install thunderbird

To install Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1.11 pre using the mozilla daily ppa. Open a terminal window (press Alt+F2 and type: gnome-terminal) and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install thunderbird

To start Mozilla Thunderbird press Alt+F2 and type: thunderbird

To install the add-ons using the terminal window just add them to the install line. If you want to install Mozilla Thunderbird and the dictionary the line will be:
sudo apt-get install thunderbird myspell-en-us
