Install Lottanzb And SABnzbd+ On Ubuntu 11.04 “Natty Narwhal”

For people who download from the newsgroups here is a guide that shows you how to install SABnzbd+ and Lottnzb. To use Lottanzb you first need to install SABnzbd+.



To install SABnzbd open a terminal window (press Alt+F2 and type: gnome-terminal) and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:jcfp/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install sabnzbdplus

To start SABnzbd+ press Alt+F2 and type: sabnzbdplus


To install Lottanzb copy+paste the following lines in your terminal window:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:lottanzb/daily-build
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install lottanzb

To start Lottanzb press Alt+F2 and type: lottanzb


SABnzbd+ is a web-based binary newsgrabber written in Python, with support for the popular nzb file format. It greatly simplifies the process of downloading from usenet, thanks to a friendly web-based, fully customizable user interface and advanced built-in post-processing options including the ability to automatically verify, repair, extract and clean up downloaded posts.

LottaNZB aims to simplify and automate the download of files from the Usenet. You can tell LottaNZB what to download using NZB files, which are created by many Usenet search engines. LottaNZB integrates nicely with GNOME desktops, but is not limited to them and uses the mature SABnzbd software as its foundation.

    In the SABnzbd+ video i start SABnzbd+ in the terminal window if you do this and you are downloading don’t close the terminal window or else SABnzbd+ will stop working. So it’s better to start SABnzbd+ by pressing Alt+F2 and to type sabnzbdplus
