Install Beatbox On Ubuntu 11.04 “Natty Narwhal”

BeatBox music player is the default music player from Elementary OS. Its a lightweight music player developed by Scott Ringwelski and is still under development.




BeatBox requires libsqlheavy0.1-0 to install it copy+paste the following line in your terminal window:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elementaryart/elementarydesktop

Please note that when adding the ppa nautilus will be upgraded to nautilus-elementary. If you don’t want this you can download the package from the Elementary packages list on launchpad.

To install Beatbox copy+paste the following lines:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sgringwe/beatbox
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install beatbox

To start BeatBox press Alt+F2 and type: beatbox

Library Management, including auto-importing to ~/Music folder
Audio and video playback
Playlists/Smart Playlists, including ‘Similar songs’
Last FM integration
Ubuntu Sound Menu support
Equalizer
List, album view and miller column views
Shuffle, repeat, and queue options
Automatic album art and artist image fetching
Metadata tag editor (with mass editing)
