How To: Keep Your Nvidia Drivers Up-to-date On Ubuntu 11.10

Here is a guide that shows you how to add the x-swat ppa and to install the latest driver for Nvidia cards.



To add the x-swat ppa and to install the latest nvidia driver open a terminal window
and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current

When the installation is finished restart your computer. To check if the installation is successful press SuperKey (the one with the windows logo on it) and type: nvidia x server settings and click on the launcher.

When nvidia releases an new driver the x-swat ppa will take care of updating the driver for your nvidia video when updating your computer.
