How To Install Wine 1.5 On Ubuntu 12.10

Here is a guide that will show you how to install Wine 1.5 (development release) on Ubuntu 12.10. You can install Wine 1.5 using the Ubuntu Wine Team PPA for Wine.

Wine enables Linux, Mac, FreeBSD, and Solaris users to run Windows applications without a copy of Microsoft Windows. Wine is free software under constant development.

To add the PPA and install Wine open a terminal window (press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa -y
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wine1.5

When The installation is finished you can close the terminal window. You can now install and run Windows software using Wine. Please note that not all Windows software run on Wine.

    last command give back error

    E: Unable to locate package wine5.1
    E: Couldn’t find any package by regex ‘wine5.1′

      messed up the install guide… got confused with the version numbers… needs to be 1.5

      sudo apt-get install wine1.5

    For some unknowm reason i can not load the program completely. I end up with an error. How do I Completely unload it and do a fresh load. How do I insure I have admin rights. I have used the install key i created. HELP. Thanks..
