How To Install Wallch On Ubuntu 11.10

Wallch allows you to change your wallpaper automatically. Its a nice and easy to use program to create wallpaper slideshows for your desktop. You can install Wallch using the Wallch team PPA for Wallch.

To add the PPA and install Wallch open a terminal window (press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy+paste the following lines:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wallch/wallch-ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wallch

When Wallch is installed you can close the terminal window and to start Wallch press the SuperKey and type: wallch

To add images click on the + plus button and if you want to add a folder with images you can click on the Add Folder button. To remove images you can click on the Remove button and when clicking on the Clear button you will remove all the added images. To move an image up or down in the list you can click on the Move Up or Move Down buttons.

To change the time settings just click on the slider and slide it to the left or right. It’s also possible to enable show the images randomly and to change the wallpaper in random time (varies from 2 to 20 minutes).

When you are done adding images and changing the other settings all you have to do is to click on the Start button and your slideshow is up and running!!

One downside of Wallch is that when you close Wallch the slideshow also stops working. So to keep the slideshow running don’t close Wallch.
